Arab terrorists killed another Jew today, the sixth in the last four days.

Samuel Gottfried, 30, a native Palestinian, was shot dead as he entered his home in Rosh Pina.

The latest slaying, coming on the heels of five Jewish killings over the week-end, stirred new concern in Jewish and official quarters.

Tension rose to new heights since the official termination last October of the sanguinary Arab general strike against Jews and Government as High Commissioner Sir Arthur Wauchope left London by plane to resume his duties here and David Ben-Gurion, chairman of the Jerusalem executive of the Jewish Agency for Palestine, demanded for Jews the right to armed self-defense.

In a conference with Acting High Commissioner John Hathorn-Hall last night, Mr. Ben-Gurion said:

“We are ready to protect ourselves provided the Government allows the Jews to carry arms. ” He added the Jews were willing to defend themselves “if the Government is unable to protect law-abiding citizens. “

According to reports in informed circles here Sir Arthur has cut short his stay in London, where he had been called by the Colonial Office, fearing renewed outbursts in the Holy Land.
