Simcha Jakobsen, one of the founders of Rishon-le-Zion, second Jewish colony established in Palestine, died today at the age of 78. Together with a group of other Russian Zionists, Mr. Jakobsen founded the colony in 1882. With a population of 3,000, the colony is now one of the largest and most flourishing in the Holy Land. It was founded with the aid of funds supplied by the late Baron Edmond de Rothschild, father of Jewish colonization.
