Definite assurance that there are no grounds to fear that anti-Jewish pogroms are imminent in Rumania has been given by King Carol in an exclusive interview published today by Le Soir.

The Rumanian monarch told the Paris daily’s Bucharest correspondent:

“Those who expect massacres are ignorant or fanatics. I shall not tolerate disturbances by anyone under any pretext. My Government will take all necessary measures to maintain law and order.”

King Carol admitted another shift in the Cabinet was imminent but did not reveal who would be invited to form a new cabinet.
