Jewish fatalities in the anti-Semitic riots of May 13 in Brzese reached three today when Moses Nussenberg, 50 years old, died. He had been beaten with iron rods.
New disorders broke out today in Lwow where Jews were attacked in the streets. One person was arrested and the remaining attackers dispersed.
As a result of a raid by Nationalists on the town of Myslenice in June, 1936, in which communications were cut, police disarmed and anti-Jewish depredations carried out, the Graeow District Court sentenced one person to 20 months’ imprisonment and 33 to terms ranging from ten months to a year.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Trade ordered shopkeepers to display the names of proprietors on signboards, setting a penalty of 1,000 zlotys fine or two weeks’ imprisonment for non-compliance. Jewish circles pointed out this would facilitate agitation for an anti-Jewish boycott.
