Anti-Semitic excesses flared today in the southeastern city of Hodmezovarsarhely, resulting in the serious wounding of Karl Wollner, Jewish timber merchant, and smashing of windows in a number of Jewish homes.
The disorders were organized by a band of 100 members of the Arrow-Cross, anti-Jewish organization modeled on German Nazi lines. Wollner was attacked for allegedly abusing a Hungarian widow during a quarrel.
Police dispersed the rioters. Legal action will be taken against leaders of the Arrow-Cross, it was stated.
