Congress Hears Plea of 130 Clergymen to Help Jews in Poland

AN APPEAL TO THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT TO “HELP MITIGATE JEWISH DISTRESS” IN POLAND, SIGNED BY 130 CINCINNATI, OHIO, CLERGYMEN OF ALL DENOMINATIONS, WAS READ TODAY IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES BY REPRESENTATIVE HERBERT S. BIGELOW OF OHIO.

CHARGING POLAND WITH VIOLATION OF TREATIES GUARANTEEING THE RIGHTS OF MINORITIES WITHIN HER BORDERS, THE CLERGYMEN’S PETITION HELD THE AMERICAN GOVERNMENT HAD A RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE ENFORCEMENT OF THE TREATIES.

THE UNITED STATES, THEY POINTED OUT, WAS A PARTY TO THE PACTS THAT HELPED RECREATE THE POLISH NATION, WHEN POLAND MADE A PLEDGE TO “TOLERATE ALL RACES.”
