PASSENGERS ON THE UNITED STATES LINER MANHATTAN, COMING UP THE BAY YESTERDAY, WERE SURPRISED TO HEAR A STEWARD ENTER THE BAR AND SHOUT, “ALL ALIENS AND SHEENIES THIS WAY!”

THE STEWARD WOULD GIVE HIS NAME ONLY AS “ALBERT” WHEN INDIGNANTLY REBUKED BY AN AMERICAN-JEWISH PASSENGER. ANOTHER STEWARD EXPLAINED TO PASSENGERS THAT THIS WAS THE USUAL NAME APPLIED TO JEWS. THIS STEWARD ADDED HE HAD LEFT AMERICA BECAUSE THERE WERE “TOO MANY SHEENIES THERE.”

THE MANHATTAN OPERATES UNDER A UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT SUBSIDY, BUT IT IS KNOWN THAT MANY AMERICAN LINERS EMPLOY GERMAN STAFFS.
