PROMINENT CHRISTIAN LEADERS HAVE JOINED IN DEMANDING THAT GREAT BRITAIN FULFILL HER PLEDGES UNDER THE PALESTINE MANDATE AND APPEALING TO THE UNITED STATES TO HELP DEFEND JEWISH RIGHTS.

THE PRO-PALESTINE FEDERATION OF AMERICA HAS ISSUED A STATEMENT SIGNED BY WILLIAM GREEN, SENATORS KING AND COPELAND, CHARLES EDWARD RUSSELL AND OTHERS, APPEALING TO THE AMERICAN GOVERNMENT AND PEOPLE NOT TO PERMIT A BREACH OF THE MANDATE BY BRITAIN.

REPRESENTATIVE HAMILTON FISH, CO-AUTHOR OF THE LODGE-FISH RESOLUTION OF 1922 SUPPORTING THE JEWISH HOMELAND, ISSUED A SEPARATE STATEMENT CALLING THE BRITISH PARTITION PLAN “AN AMAZING SUGGESTION AND A DELIBERATE BREACH OF TRUST.” DECLARING THE SUGGESTION FOR AN AMERICAN MANDATE OVER PALESTINE WOULD HAVE LITTLE SUPPORT AMONG THE AMERICAN PEOPLE, HE DEMANDED THAT BRITAIN LIVE UP TO HER OBLIGATIONS TO THE NATIONS OF THE WORLD.

THE SENATE FOREIGN RELATIONS COMMITTEE WILL BE ASKED TO CONSIDER ACTION TO ASSURE AMERICAN PARTICIPATION IN DECIDING THE FATE OF PALESTINE IN VIEW OF GREAT BRITAIN’S PROPOSAL TO PARTITION THE HOLY LAND.

SENATOR J. HAMILTON LEWIS OF ILLINOIS ANNOUNCED IN THE UPPER HOUSE THAT HE WOULD LAY THIS QUESTION BEFORE THE COMMITTEE, SUGGESTING THAT SENATORS AUSTIN OF VERMONT AND COPELAND OF NEW YORK BE COMMISSIONED TO GUARD THE INTERESTS OF AMERICAN JEWS IN PALESTINE.

MR. LEWIS REMINDED THE SENATE THAT HE HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH INCLUSION IN THE BALFOUR DECLARATION OF A PROVISION ALLOWING AMERICANS SETTLING IN PALESTINE TO RETAIN THEIR AMERICAN CITIZENSHIP. HE POINTED OUT THAT MANY AMERICAN JEWS OWN PROPERTY IN WHAT IS PROPOSED TO BE THE NEW ARAB STATE, AND DECLARED THAT IF THEY ARE TO BE TRANSFERRED, THE UNITED STATES SHOULD PROTECT THEIR INTERESTS.
