INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION OF THE PRINCIPLE OF ASYLUM FOR POLITICAL REFUGEES HAS BEEN PROPOSED BY THE ARGENTINE GOVERNMENT TO ALL NATIONS WITH WHICH IT HAS DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS.

CARLOS SAAVEDRA LAMAS, ARGENTINE FOREIGN MINISTER, SUBMITTED TO THESE COUNTRIES A DRAFT OF A MULTILATERAL TREATY ON THE SUBJECT, LAYING DOWN RULES UNDER WHICH ASYLUM MAY BE GRANTED. HE ANNOUNCED ALSO THAT HE WOULD PLACE THE MATTER BEFORE NEXT YEAR’S PAN-AMERICAN CONFERENCE.
