Jewish State Party Rejects Partition

SIGN UP FOR THE JTA DAILY BRIEFING

THE WORLD CONGRESS OF THE JEWISH STATE PARTY, A MINORITY GROUP WITHIN THE WORLD ZIONIST ORGANIZATION, TODAY CATEGORICALLY REJECTED THE BRITISH PROPOSAL TO PARTITION PALESTINE AND DEMANDED CREATION OF A JEWISH STATE WITHIN THE HOLY LAND’S HISTORIC BORDERS.

THE DECISION WAS TAKEN AFTER TWO DAYS OF BITTER DEBATE, CLIMAXED BY THE RESIGNATION FROM THE PARTY OF TWO LEADERS, RICHARD LICHTHEIM AND S. SOSKIN, WHO ARGUED FOR ACCEPTANCE OF THE PROPOSAL. LEADING THE FIGHT FOR REJECTION WERE MEIR GROSSMAN OF PALESTINE, HEAD OF THE PARTY, AND ROBERT STRICKER, OF VIENNA.
