THE ARABS ARE WILLING TO MEET THE JEWS IN A ROUND-TABLE CONFERENCE TO SEEK A WAY OUT OF THE PRESENT PALESTINE CRISIS, RAGHEB BEY NASHASHIBI, PRESIDENT OF THE PALESTINE DEFENSE PARTY AND LEADER OF THE MODERATE ARABS, TOLD THE JEWISH TELEGRAPHIC AGENCY TODAY.

THE ARAB MODERATES ARE ALSO WILLING TO CONSIDER THE DIVISION OF PALESTINE INTO ARAB AND JEWISH CANTONS, BUT FIRMLY OPPOSE PARTITION, THE EX-MAYOR OF JERUSALEM SAID.

AS AN ALTERNATIVE TO PARTITION, HE PROPOSED THAT AFTER A FEDERATION OF ARAB STATES WAS CREATED, THE ARABS WOULD BE WILLING TO PERMIT A 40 PERCENT PROPORTION OF JEWS IN PALESTINE, TO PERMIT JEWISH IMMIGRATION INTO THE OTHER STATES OF THE FEDERATION TO THE EXTENT OF 30 PERCENT OR MORE, AND TO GUARANTEE THE JEWS MUNICIPAL AUTONOMY AND THE RIGHT TO DEVELOP THEIR LANGUAGE AND CULTURE AND MAINTAIN THE TRADITIONS OF THEIR ANCESTORS.
