THE WORLD ORT UNION, FOR JEWISH VOCATIONAL RETRAINING, OPENED ITS FOURTH WORLD CONGRESS YESTERDAY. HUNDREDS OF DELEGATES FROM A DOZEN COUNTRIES, INCLUDING THE UNITED STATES, CANADA, SOUTH AFRICA, AUSTRALIA AND THE ARGENTINE WERE OFFICIALLY WELCOMED BY JULES JULIEN, UNDER-SECRETARY OF STATE FOR TECHNICAL EDUCATION.

THREE DAYS’ DISCUSSION OF THE ECONOMIC SITUATION OF JEWS IN EASTERN EUROPE WERE SCHEDULED. AMONG THOSE TO ADDRESS THE CONGRESS WERE DR. BERNARD KAHN, EUROPEAN DIRECTOR OF THE JOINT DISTRIBUTION COMMITTEE; DR. LEON BRAMSON, PRESIDENT OF THE ORT EXECUTIVE; DR. DAVID LVOVITCH, VICE-PRESIDENT; DR. AARON C. SINGALOVSKY, BERLIN DIRECTOR OF ORT; EDOUARD OUNGRE; AND MURRAY LEVINE AND JOSEPH BASKIN, AMERICAN DELEGATES.
