Syria Bars Arab Delegates to Congress; Parley Seen Doomed

THE PAN-ARAB CONGRESS, SCHEDULED TO BE HELD IN BLUDAN, SYRIA, THIS WEEK TO ORGANIZE OPPOSITION TO THE PROPOSED PARTITION OF PALESTINE, APPEARED DOOMED TO FAILURE TODAY WHEN THE FRENCH CONSUL HERE DENIED VISAS TO SYRIA FOR ARAB NOTABLES AND THOSE POSSESSING VISAS WERE BARRED FROM SYRIA. THE ARAB SUPREME COMMITTEE INTERVENED WITHOUT EFFECT.

NEW HEADQUARTERS OF THE PAN-ARAB MOVEMENT HAVE BEEN ESTABLISHED AT BLUDAN TO ORGANIZE BANDS TO BE SENT INTO PALESTINE, TO SHIP ARMS INTO THE COUNTRY AND TO SUBSIDIZE THE PALESTINE ARABS. THE SCOPE OF THE CONFERENCE WAS EXPECTED TO BE RESTRICTED TO A DISCUSSION OF HIGH POLITICS OMITTING PRACTICAL MEASURES.

THE NATIONAL DEFENSE PARTY OF RAGHEB BEY NASHASHIBI, EX-MAYOR OF JERUSALEM, ANNOUNCED ITS DECISION TO RE-ENTER THE ARAB SUPREME COMMITTEE, WHICH IT LEFT SEVERAL MONTHS AGO, AND TO PARTICIPATE IN THE PAN-ARAB CONGRESS.
