THE GOVERNMENT OF VENEZUELA HAS CUT IMMIGRANT ENTRY DEPOSITS FROM 1,000 TO 500 BOLIVARS (ABOUT $125), IT WAS ANNOUNCED HERE TODAY BY THE HILFSVEREIN, CENTRAL RELIEF ORGANIZATION FOR JEWS IN GERMANY.

THE CONCESSION IS HELD IMPORTANT FOR GERMAN JEWS SINCE VENEZUELA IS REPRESENTED AS OFFERING GOOD POSSIBILITIES FOR ARTISANS AND AGRICULTURALISTS WITH SMALL CAPITAL. IMMIGRATION OF SO-CALLED STATELESS PERSONS IS VIRTUALLY FORBIDDEN. EAST EUROPEAN JEWS ARE ENTIRELY BARRED FROM ENTERING, ACCORDING TO THE HILFSVEREIN.
