ALEC SEATH KIRKBRIDE, ASSISTANT BRITISH RESIDENT IN TRANSJORDAN, WAS APPOINTED TODAY DISTRICT COMMISSIONER FOR THE GALILEE TO SUCCEED LEWIS YELLAND ANDREWS, WHO WAS ASSASSINATED BY ARAB TERRORISTS IN NAZARETH ON SEPT. 26.

MR. KIRKBRIDE IS FORTY YEARS OLD. HIS SERVICE IN THE BRITISH-MANDATED AREA BEGAN IN 1921 WHEN HE WAS APPOINTED BRITISH REPRESENTATIVE IN ES SALT, TRANSJORDAN. SINCE THEN HE HAS HELD SUCCESSIVELY THE POSITIONS OF JUNIOR ASSISTANT SECRETARY, ASSISTANT SECRETARY, ACTING BRITISH RESIDENT AND ASSISTANT RESIDENT IN TRANSJORDAN.

A FOREST IN MEMORY OF MR. ANDREWS WILL BE PLANTED IN THE EASTERN SECTION OF THE JEZREEL VALLEY, IT WAS ANNOUNCED TODAY BY A DELEGATION FROM JEWISH SETTLEMENTS IN THE UPPER AND LOWER GALILEE.

HIGH COMMISSIONER SIR ARTHUR GRENFELL WAUCHOPE WILL RETURN FROM LEAVE IN ENGLAND ON OCT. 20, NEWSPAPERS HERE REPORTED TODAY. A JEW NAMED BLACKBURNE IS TO BE APPOINTED DISTRICT OFFICER FOR TIBERIAS, IT WAS REPORTED.
