DR. CYRUS ADLER, PRESIDENT OF THE JEWISH THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY, TOLD STUDENTS AT AN OPENING RECEPTION WEDNESDAY THAT THE PROPOSED PARTITION OF PALESTINE “WILL NOT, IN MY OPINION, MAKE FOR THE PEACE OF PALESTINE NOR FOR THE PEACE OF THE WORLD.” HE ADDED THAT “IT CONTAINS THE IMPLICATION THAT IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR JEWS AND ARABS TO LIVE TOGETHER.”

DR. ADLER EXPRESSED RESENTMENT AT AN INDICATION HE SAID HE SAW NEAR THE BEGINNING OF THE ROYAL COMMISSION REPORT THAT THE BALFOUR DECLARATION WAS USED AS A WAR MEASURE TO SECURE THE SUPPORT OF THE JEWISH PEOPLE THROUGHOUT THE WORLD TO THE ALLIED CAUSE.

DECLARING THIS STATEMENT WAS AIMED AT THE JEWS OF AMERICA, HE SAID, “IF THIS BE SO, I THINK THE BRITISH GOVERNMENT DECEIVED ITSELF AND THE JEWISH PEOPLE.”
