Special Parley Proposed to Map Palestine Jews’ Stand on Partition

MOSHE SMILANSKY, PRESIDENT OF THE JEWISH FARMERS ASSOCIATION, PROPOSED TODAY A SPECIAL CONFERENCE TO ADOPT A STAND ON THE PROPOSED PARTITION OF PALESTINE. HE ADDRESSED THE JEWISH NATIONAL COUNCIL AND THE JEWISH AGENCY EXECUTIVE, MEETING WITH REPRESENTATIVES OF PALESTINE JEWISH GROUPS TO DISCUSS SECURITY, POLITICAL, ECONOMIC AND EDUCATIONAL PROBLEMS.

THE PROPOSAL WAS MADE AFTER MENACHEM M. USSISHKIN, PRESIDENT OF THE JEWISH NATIONAL FUND, HAD PROTESTED THAT THE COUNCIL’S DELEGATION TO GENEVA HAD, WITHOUT AUTHORITY, DISCUSSED PARTITION WITH LEAGUE OF NATIONS OFFICIALS. THE DELEGATION, INCLUDING DR. A. KATZNELSON, MORDECAI ELIASH AND RABBI BEN-ZION UZIEL, REPORTED TO THE COUNCIL ON ITS ACTIVITIES.

ISAAC BEN-ZVI, PRESIDENT OF THE COUNCIL, EULOGIZED LEWIS Y. ANDREWS, DISTRICT COMMISSIONER FOR THE GALILEE, AND HIS BODYGUARD, MCEWAN, WHO WERE ASSASSINATED IN NAZARETH. THE MEETING ROSE IN THEIR MEMORY.
