AN EXPECTED CONFLICT BETWEEN ZIONISTS AND NON-ZIONISTS FAILED TO MATERIALIZE TODAY AS BOTH FACTIONS UNITED TO PRESENT ONE LIST OF CANDIDATES FOR POSTS ON THE ROME JEWISH COMMUNITY EXECUTIVE BOARD.

THE LIST, WHICH INCLUDED SOME OF ITALY’S OUTSTANDING PERSONALITIES WAS UNANIMOUSLY ELECTED. PEACEFUL OUTCOME OF A CRITICAL INTERNAL SITUATION IN THE COMMUNITY’S AFFAIRS, PRECIPITATED BY SEMI-OFFICIAL CRITICISM OF ZIONISTS AS LACKING IN PATRIOTISM TO ITALY, WAS ATTRIBUTED TO THE EFFORTS OF CHIEF RABBI DAVID PRATO.

ELECTED TO THE EXECUTIVE WERE: LIONELLO ALATRI, GRANDSON OF THE FAMOUS PHILANTHROPIST, SAMUELE ALATRI; GENERAL ANGELLO DI NOLA; ENGINEER GUISEPPE RECANATI, FORMER PRESIDENT OF THE COMMUNITY; ETTORE BASSAN, CHIEF OF THE FASCIST MILITIA, AND ADVOCATE PIO TAGLIACOZZA, HEAD OF THE JEWISH ORPHANAGE.
