4-power Body to Rule Palestine Urged by Berlin, Paris Hears

GERMANY HAS SUGGESTED TO ITALY, LE JOUR REPORTED FROM ROME TODAY, THAT A FOUR-POWER INTERNATIONAL COMMISSION BE SOUGHT TO RULE PALESTINE IN PLACE OF THE PRESENT BRITISH MANDATORY GOVERNMENT.

THE COMMISSION WOULD BE MODELED ON THE SAAR COMMISSION AND WOULD BE DIRECTED BY BRITAIN, FRANCE, GERMANY AND ITALY, THE NEWSPAPER SAID. AN INTERNATIONAL MILITIA WOULD BE SENT TO PALESTINE TO PRESERVE ORDER.

THE SUGGESTION WAS REPORTED TO HAVE BEEN MADE TO PREMIER MUSSOLINI IN ROME BY JOACHIM VON RIBBENTROP, GERMAN AMBASSADOR TO LONDON, WHEN THE ITALIAN DICTATOR SOUGHT REICHSFUEHRER HITLER’S SUPPORT FOR A PRO-ARAB CAMPAIGN BEING WAGED BY THE ITALIAN PRESS. HERR VON RIBBENTROP DID NOT REFUSE THE SUPPORT, THE DISPATCH ADDED.
