Jew Killed, 7 Wounded in New Polish Disturbances

ONE JEWISH YOUTH WAS KILLED, SEVEN OTHER JEWS WOUNDED AND A SYNAGOGUE GUTTED BY FIRE IN NEW ANTI-SEMITIC DISORDERS THAT FLARED TODAY IN VARIOUS PARTS OF POLAND.

THE FATALITY OCCURRED IN THE VILLAGE OF MIECZYSZOW, NEAR BRZEZANY, WHEN A GANG OF UKRAINIAN HOOLIGANS ATTACKED A JEWISH TAVERN-KEEPER, JUDEL STRZINER, AND HIS FAMILY. STRZINER, HIS SON AND DAUGHTER WERE ALL WOUNDED AND REMOVED TO THE HOSPITAL, WHERE THE SON, SAMUEL, DIED LATER.

A BOMB WAS THROWN INTO A SYNAGOGUE IN THE OKUNIEV DISTRICT OF WARSAW, RESULTING IN FIRE THAT PARTIALLY DESTROYED THE BUILDING.

ANTI-SEMITES ATTACKED JEWS IN THE STREETS OF WILNO, WOUNDING FIVE YOUTHS.

SCORES OF JEWISH SHOPKEEPERS IN RADOMSK WHO CLOSED DURING THE RECENT PROTEST STRIKE AGAINST “GHETTO BENCHES” IN WARSAW UNIVERSITIES ARE BEING PROSECUTED BY THE LOCAL AUTHORITIES, IT WAS LEARNED TODAY. A DELEGATION OF TRADESMEN INTERVENED WITH WARSAW AUTHORITIES, URGING THE PROCEEDINGS BE SUSPENDED.

PROF. KULCZYNSKI, RESIGNED RECTOR OF LWOW UNIVERSITY, ANNOUNCED TODAY RECEIPT OF A LETTER SIGNED BY A NUMBER OF PROMINENT POLES, THANKING HIM FOR HIS DEFENSE OF CULTURE IN POLAND’S PUBLIC LIFE BY OPPOSING INSTITUTION OF THE BENCHES. AMONG THE SIGNERS WERE PROF. KAZIMIERZ BARTEL, SCIENTIST AND FORMER PREMIER OF POLAND.
