THE ANTI-JEWISH MOVEMENT GAINED HEADWAY IN POLISH UNIVERSITIES WITH ADDITION OF WILNO TO THOSE INSTITUTING “GHETTO” BENCHES FOR JEWISH STUDENTS AND THE CLOSING DOWN OF COLLEGES IN LWOW FOR DISORDERS ARISING FROM EFFORTS OF NATIONALISTS TO OBTAIN SEGREGATION FOR JEWS THERE.

AT THE SAME TIME, NATIONALISTS IN CRACOW PROCLAIMED AN ANTI-JEWISH BOYCOTT WEEK WITH THE SLOGAN, “CRACOW WITHOUT JEWS.” ALL LWOW COLLEGES WERE CLOSED DOWN FOR THE WEEKEND FOLLOWING EXCESSES AT THE UNIVERSITY AND THE POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTE DURING WHICH MANY JEWISH STUDENTS WERE BEATEN UP AND STONES WERE HURLED FROM UNIVERSITY WINDOWS AT JEWISH PASSERSBY.
