THE GOVERNMENT’S APPOINTMENT OF DR. FERDINAND WERNER AS DIRECTOR OF THE EVANGELICAN CHURCH WAS VIEWED HERE TONIGHT AS ANOTHER STEP TOWARD ASSERTING CONTROL OVER GERMAN PROTESTANT ORGANIZATIONS.

THE APPOINTMENT OF DR. WERNER, A GOVERNMENT OFFICIAL WHO HAS BEEN IN CHARGE OF ECCLESIASTIC administrative affairs, was made yesterday by Religious Minister Hans Kerrl.
