ISIDOR GENNETT, BRONX NEWSDEALER AND WAR VETERAN WHO DARED NAZI WRATH WHEN HE PLACED A WREATH ON THE GERMAN WAR MEMORIAL IN BERLIN LAST MONTH, WAS ACCLAIMED AS “THE ENVOY OF PEACE” BY A LARGE GROUP OF JEWISH WAR VETERANS AND FRIENDS WHEN HE RETURNED FROM EUROPE YESTERDAY ON THE S.S. WASHINGTON. HE WAS PRESENTED WITH A MEDAL BY HARRY SHAFFER, NATIONAL COMMANDER OF THE JEWISH WAR VETERANS, IN RECOGNITION OF “PROMOTING GOOD-WILL, AND PROVING THAT AMERICAN JEWS HAVE NO ILL-FEELING TOWARDS THE GERMAN PEOPLE.”
