Non-sectarian Body to Perpetuate Democratic Concepts Formed Here

FORMATION OF THE AMERICAN UNION FOR DEMOCRACY TO PERPETUATE THE CONCEPTS OF DEMOCRACY IN AMERICA WAS ANNOUNCED AT A PRESS CONFERENCE TODAY BY WILLIAM H. OSBORN, PRESIDENT, WHO SAID IT WAS NON-SECTARIAN AND NON-POLITICAL AND HAD THE PARTICIPATION OF A GROUP OF LIBERALS REPRESENTING MANY FAITHS AND VARIOUS SECTIONS OF THE UNITED STATES.

THE UNION WILL SOLICIT MEMBERSHIP OF ALL PEOPLE INTERESTED IN SAFEGUARDING AND PROTECTING THE AMERICAN CIVIL LIBERTIES GUARANTEED UNDER THE CONSTITUTIONAL BILL OF RIGHTS, MR. OSBORN SAID. CHARLES I. STEWART IS SECRETARY OF THE ORGANIZATION, DR. GUY EMERY SHIPLER, TREASURER, AND ERNEST CUNEO, GENERAL COUNSEL. AMONG THE 29 MEMBERS OF THE NATIONAL BOARD ARE HERBERT AGAR, DR. L.M. BIRKHEAD, RABBI EDWARD L. ISRAEL, MARVIN LOWENTHAL, JAMES N. ROSENBERG AND WILLIAM ALLEN WHITE.
