MAURICE RAVEL, COMPOSER OF THE “BOLERO” AND OTHER WORLD-FAMOUS MUSICAL WORKS DIED HERE TODAY. THE RENOWNED JEWISH COMPOSER WAS 62. HIS DEATH OCCURRED AFTER A TWO-WEEK ILLNESS WHICH FOLLOWED A SERIOUS INTESTINAL OPERATION.

BESIDES HIS FAMOUS WORKS, RAVEL ARRANGED SEVERAL JEWISH FOLK SONGS. BORN MARCH 7, 1875 AT CIBOURNE, BASSES-PYRENEES, RAVEL SUCCEEDED BETTER THAN ALMOST ANY CONTEMPORARY FIGURE OF EQUAL STATURE IN KEEPING HIS PRIVATE LIFE STRICTLY PRIVATE.
