All civil servants were given permission to carry arms by the British authorities today in view of the increasing frequency of terrorist attacks against them. Government employees also were warned not to venture out of their homes after nightfall.

In an attempt to check smuggling of arms and munitions from Transjordan into Palestine, the Government also dispatched new troops to the Jordan valley, adjacent to the Palestine-Transjordan frontier, to reinforce border patrols.

The police decided to cope with elusive armed terrorists by ordering more of the police dogs bred in South Africa which have proved useful in tracking down criminals.
