Rumanian engineers’ and architects’ organizations acted today to bar Jews as members while the Ministry of Commerce and Industry ordered all merchants to state their full names in order to identify Jewish firms.

The Association of Rumanian Engineers decided to eliminate all Jewish members. A similar step was taken by the Union of Rumanian Architects, which deprived all Jewish architects of the right to submit plans for construction.

Meanwhile, an association of Rumanian war invalids, widows and orphans, known as “Fatherland’s Glory,” petitioned the Minister of Justice on behalf of “our Jewish comrades, members of the great family of war invalids, orphans and widows lacking the material means for fulfilling the formalities required by the law for the revision of citizenships.” The petition requested that official certificates of membership in the association be accepted as sufficient proof of citizenship.
