Austria May Raise Naturalization Requirements

Under a projected new naturalization law, foreigners may be required to live in this country for 25 instead of 10 years before becoming eligible for Austrian citizenship, the Neue Freie Presse reported tonight.

Suppression of the system in effect since 1925, under which Germans naturalized in Austria or Austrians naturalized in Germany remain citizens of both countries, is also being considered, the newspaper said.
