Jewish quarters were put under redoubled guard today as Moslems began celebration of the Feast of Nebi Musa (The Prophet Moses), honoring the great Jewish law-giver, who is also sacred to Mohammedans. The British warship Arethusa dropped anchor in Haifa harbor, supposedly in connection with the celebration.
A band of Arab mercenaries raided the village of Sejed in the Judaean hills, killing a notable and looting houses. The bandits spoke a dialect unintelligible to the Arab villagers. The town of Migdal, near Tiberias, was subjected to heavy fire during the night. A Jewish settler, Abraham Asherovitz, was slightly wounded. A railway bridge in the Tulkarem district was set on fire by Arab terrorists.
