Elaborate precautions to be taken by Italy for the safety of Chancellor Adolf Hitler of Germany on his forthcoming visit will include, it was reported here today from Berlin, arrest of Jews and suspicious persons seven days before the Nazi leader’s arrival.

According to the News Chronicle, the Gestapo (German secret political police) demanded the arrest of all suspicious characters in Rome and Florence, including Jews not members of the Fascist Party. Italy agreed, but refused to arrest Italian Jews, promising to seize only those who migrated to Rome and Florence within the past five years.
