The Jewish Parliamentary Club today interpreted a declaration by vice-Premier Eugen Kwiatkowski on the necessity of emigration of non-Polish elements as applying to Jews and asserted that it violated the letter and spirit of the Polish Constitution.
After a special meeting, presided over by Deputy Emil Sommerstein, the Jewish members and former members of Parliament issued a statement holding that the Vice-Premier’s declaration was contrary to previous utterances and had now transferred the economic problem to the sphere of political struggle.
The Jewish legislators believe that restoration of economic life and strengthening of the State is only possible through the consolidation of all creative powers of the nation, the statement said.
Meanwhile, a tendency to cooperate with the Government on the basis of Kwiatkowski’s program was disclosed in organs of several groups hitherto opposed to the Government.
