Premier Koloman Daranyi today told the Budapest correspondent of the Belgrade newspaper, Vreme, that apart from the affected Jewish population the Hungarian public had received the bill curbing Jews with “great satisfaction.”
Participation of Jews in the economic and cultural life of the country in proportion with their numbers, Dr. Daranyi declared, was in accord with Hungarian ideas of fairness and humanity. He said that regulation of the Jewish problem was to enable Christian Hungarian youth to find more openings in the economic sphere.
Meanwhile, 37 of Hungary’s most prominent artists, musicians and journalists published a joint protest against the proposed legislation.
