Charging that Central European persecution of Jews constituted a grievance of an international character, Representative Hamilton Fish (Rep.,N.Y.) today introduced a concurrent resolution calling on the Secretary of State to urge the British Government and the international refugee conference to obtain the lifting of Palestine immigration restrictions.
The resolution, offered in the mane of “the liberty-loving American people,” is designed to “provide a refuge and homeland in that ancient land of their faith for persecuted and destitute Jews of Central Europe.” It states that the Jews are being “relentlessly persecuted because of racial and religious prejudices and bigotry.”
Thirty nations will participate in the refugee-aid conference to be held in Evian, France, the State Department announced today. The meeting will open on July 6 (not June 6, as was stated in a JTA Geneva dispatch yesterday).
