Nationalist students of the University of Krakow today petitioned the rector not to receive first year Jewish students in any department of the institution.
Giving the governmental point of view on the Jewish question, the newspaper Gazeta Polska said that anti-Semitism in Poland was not based on racial ideas, which would be contrary to the Catholic religion, but was a legitimate economic struggle against Jewish competition and a necessary defense of Polish culture against Jewish influences.
The Ukrainian leader, Dr. A. Baran, announced sharp opposition by minorities, except the Germans, to attempts by the Fascist group headed by Deputy Budzynski, which split away from the Government Camp of National Unity, to introduce a bill for creation of separate election bodies for Jews, with a smaller Parliamentary representation. Dr. Baran recalled that the Poles used Jewish votes before the war in Galicia to secure domination.
