The 51st convention of Independent Order Brith Abraham, which closed today, approved the Pittsburgh agreement for coordination of efforts for Jewish defense and empowered its executive committee to take steps for representation of the order on the agency to be established under the agreement.
The convention also adopted resolutions lauding President Roosevelt and Secretary of State Hull for calling the Evian refugee-aid conference, but authorizing the Grandmaster and the executive committee to make representations to the Government for the elimination from the immigration laws of “discriminatory, arbitrary and legislation affecting immigration.”
In other resolutions, the 1,000 delegates pledged cooperation in forming a union of all faiths to combat anti-American doctrines, since “dictatorships of every kind are a menace not only to the Jews, but to civilization in general,” pledged renewed financial and moral support to the Palestine Jewish homeland, urged participation in the American Jewish Congress elections and pledged help to raise a fund to purchase kosher meat for Jews in Germany.
