A. Leo Weil, outstanding attorney and vice-president of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations, has died here at the age of 78. He was a member of the Union’s executive board for more than 25 years. He was a leader of the National Municipal League and noted for his fight to reform city government in Pittsburgh. Two sons and a daughter survive him.
Mr. Weil was a former member of the executive committee of the American Jewish Committee. Born in Keysville, Va., he was educated at the University of Virginia and began practicing law in Bradford, Pa., in 1880. since 1887 he had lived in Pittsburgh. There, from 1905 to 1911 he was president of the Voters’ Welfare league which brought about disclosures of graft and court convictions.
