It was learned today that on Sunday, the eve of the Hebrew New Year, Nazi students and storm troopers invaded the student barracks in the Doebling district of Vienna, beating up numerous resident Jewish students. Several of them, including one theological student, were afterwards arrested on a charge of Communism.

It was reported from Vienna that the New Year service proceeded peacefully, but that the traditional Tashlich pilgrimage to the Donau Canal was omitted for the first time in years, since worshippers had been requested during services to refrain from this ritual to avoid undesirable public notice.

A well known Vienna Jewish lawyer and former Government official, Dr. Josef Klaeger, has been arrested by the Gestapo (German Secret Police), it was reported here.
