The New York Times reports from Trieste, Italy, that a stream of Jewish emigrants from Austria have been passing through that city with the far east as their destination. The refugees have booked passage for Colombo, Ceylon; Manila, Hong Kong, Shanghai or beyond. Others are traveling to Kobe, Japan, where big Western firms have reportedly offered them employment. The dispatch pointed out that no restrictions have thus far been placed on Jewish immigration by near eastern and far eastern countries, “even crowded countries like Japan” not denying the refugees hospitality.
