Ending a three-day session here, the House of Bishops of the Protestant Episcopal Church of the United States issued a pastoral letter today deploring “the persistent persecution of helpless people, either because of race or religion” as contrary to Christian doctrine “that God hath made of one blood all nations of men.” The letter said there could be no security and “no enduring peace where racial hatreds and national ambitions are unchecked.”
