Dr. Izzat Tannous, chief of the Arab propaganda center here, declared tonight there was little hope for participation of the Palestine Arabs in the conference to be called by the british government because of the implied barring of the exiled ex-Mufti of Jerusalem. He also demanded a general amnesty of Arab political prisoners as a condition precedent to appeasement talks. however, he voiced gratification that partition had been dropped.
The Government statement of policy was communicated to Arab leaders in Palestine, the embassies of Egypt and Iraq, the legation of Saudi Arabia and the government of Transjordan, which would be invited to the conference. it was believed that Syria. although one of the “neighboring states” of Palestine referred to in the statement, would not be invited, because its Mandatory Power, France, is reportedly anxious to keep out of the discussions. the JTA news will not appear friday, armistice day
