Britain has already advanced about 15,000,000 ($25,000,000) in credits to Czechoslovakia, Sir John Simon, Chancellor of the Exchequer, told the House of Commons. Negotiations are now proceeding on the exact use to which these and further sums are to be put, “but the Czechoslovak Government has been informed that in offering financial assistance His Majesty’s Government had in mind more particularly the question of refugees, and the Czechoslovak Government has taken notice of this,” Sir John said.
He confirmed that the Government had commissioned the Bank of England to make the advance, and that the House would be asked to vote measures for the bank’s reimbursement.
