Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain today rejected a laborite request that he intervene again with the Dominions and Urge them to make greater efforts for solution of the German refugee problem. Replying to laborite David Adams, the Prime Minister said that last August the League of Nations High Commissioner for refugees estimated that 120,000 German emigres in all categories had already been definitively settled in their new homeland. Several thousands more, it was believed, were able to establish themselves abroad in subsequent months.
Chamberlain, however, declined to take further action through direct representations to the various Dominion governments. Sir Arthur Salter, Independent M.P., Asked the Prime Minister to secure preparation of a plan for immigration into British Guiana with provisions for financial aid. Chamberlain replied that refugee organizations had been invited to visit the colony and investigate its possibilities, which he said was the first thing to be done.
