Prof. Leon Liberman, world renowned eye specialist, committed suicide today over a copy of the Hungarian Government’s anti-Jewish bill. The 55-year-old ophthalmologist’s wife discovered his body slumped over the printed text of the measure. Dr. Libermann came from a family long distinguished for its achievements in the field of medicine. His father was the founder of Hungary’s system of public hygiene and held a professorship at the University of Budapest. His grandfather was chief physician of one of the Hungarian revolutionary armies during the uprisings of 1848-49.
