Berlin Hits U.S. Officials, Meeting at Lima, As ‘agents of Jewish Imperialism’

The current conference of United States diplomatic and consular agents at Lima, was assailed by the Reich press tonight as a “new manifestation of American imperialism.” Attempts have been made for months, though without success, to persuade the countries of Latin America that Germany and Italy intended to conquer South America first economically, then politically, and finally militarily, the Nachtausgabe said.

“When the (eighth Inter-American) Conference failed,” the newspaper continued, ” it was said the Peruvian Government had blocked the work of the conference through agents provocateurs and had even tolerated Nazi propaganda at Lima. Thus flourishes the lie of Nazi propaganda in South America, and a democratic propaganda is being organized assertedly to combat it. But all this is really a joke. Actually, the United States wishes only to conceal its intentions to conquer, with the aid of the dollar, persons in South American who would eventually become agents of Jewish economic imperialism.”
