MEXICO CITY (Jan. 30)
General Montes, Chief of Police, assured Jewish leaders today that a recurrence of last Thursday night’s anti-Semitic disorders would not be permitted. Four anti-Semites have been arrested on charges of inciting to revolt against the Government. Rumors of an impending Fascist rebellion kept the capital’s 10,000 Jews in a state of uneasiness. A number of Jews were said to be considering liquidating their businesses.
Fascist leaders announced a new demonstration against Jews and Communists for Thursday in which they said 30,000 persons would participate. Police are permitting Fascist manifestations on condition that disorder is avoided.
