No modification in the anti-Jewish bill before Parliament is expected as a result of Premier Bela Imredy’s resignation on the score of his Jewish ancestry. It is hoped, however, that some amendments will be introduced during the debate on the bill in the Upper House.
It was revealed today that proofs of Imredy’s Jewish origins were submitted to Regent Horthy last Friday by a member of the Lower House because, during a defence of his anti-Jewish measure, Imredy had insisted that the Jews were not assimilatable with Hungarians even if they intermarried.
