Special services were held throughout Palestine by Jews today in place of the 24-hour general strike against British proposals for a settlement of Arab-Jewish difficulties. At the behest of Chief Rabbi Isaac Herzog, prayers were said for divine intervention to block Great Britain’s plans for eventual establishment of an independent state with Jews fixed as a minority. The strike, which had been called by the Jewish National Council, was postponed indefinitely because of the international situation.
