A supreme effort on the part of American Jewry to extend the area of Jewish colonization in Palestine was called for by the extraordinary conference of the Jewish National Fund, which closed here last night. A resolution declared that Jewish upbuilding was “an historic process of national emancipation which, regardless of temporary setbacks, must progress to fulfillment.”

A proposal that the biblical “maaser” — 10 percent tithe — be now applied to communal Jewish property throughout the world by Jewish institutions expressing readiness to hypothecate 10 percent of their property equities as collagteral for a land-acquisition loan was made by Dr. H. Raphael Gold, president of the Texas J.N.F. Greetings were received from President Roosevelt, Governor Lehman, the Jewish National Council of Palestine and the Jewish National Fund of Great Britain.
