Subject to certain limited restrictions, “Aryan” landlord today were authorized to break all leases with Jewish tenants. A law effective for Germany and Memel, with later application to Austria and the Sudetenland, stated as its object “the separation of Jews from Aryans.”
A landlord, the law provides, may break a lease with a Jewish tenant at will, but must give warning a specified time in advance. He must also obtain a certificate from the Jewish Community showing that the evicted Jew can find lodgings without aid from other “Aryans.”
Jewish women married o Christians were exempted from the decree.
