Only 80 Jewish refugees of more than 1,000 who came to Havana over the week-end on three ships have been permitted to land, the Jewish Telegraphic Agency was informed today by Miss Cecilia Razovsky, director of the National Coordinating Committee for Refugees.
Of 945 who arrived on the German steamer St. Louis, only 10 were admitted to Cuba, Miss Razovsky said. The steamer Orduna, which arrived yesterday with 120 refugees, disembarked 70 and continued on to South America with the remainder. The Flanders, with an undetermined number of passengers on board, also arrived yesterday and the passengers were still being examined today.
Miss Razovsky asked that relatives of refugees on board the ships send telegrams or letters to the Committee indicating that they are willing to guarantee support of the refugees if they are permitted to land in Cuba. She said that prominent persons in the United States have cabled the Cuban authorities urging admission of the refugees.
